They say ‘The first cut is the deepest’. I say the removing of the object that made that first cut is what causes the most pain. It leaves behind a brooding void. An empty place that was once filled with hope, warmth and so much thumping with desire in your heart that you swore people could see and feel your heart beating with the abundance of life.
What you had together drew others to your shared flame. They sensed the lavished energy that spilled out even as you spoke. They celebrated the beauty that naturally flowed and the unhindered sincere expressions that flooded the stratosphere above.
Together you made the world smile.
Together honesty of emotions brought hope to others and confirmed the longing of sought after connections.
For at least a moment.
But as it is with most wild fires, elements came to bring it under control.
To surround it. To dig trenches, creating an unnatural border.
As swiftly as it grew, under confinement, it was eventually smothered by the cares of this world.
The professed words that were first spoken and brought such life, faded. Even memories could not shine light into the darkness left behind.

We are sojourners in this world with a longing inside to feel a connection that rings true and deeper than most.
Our hearts long to hear spoken these words that tell us we are home:
“Come…sit with me…lie with me. I’ll whisper to you things that will make your heart sing…..and sigh.”
